The economic impact of conference, meetings, events, and incentives (MICE) tourism reached 6,4 million euros in Alicante during the first half of the year, according to data from the Alicante City&Beach Tourism Board.

During the first half of 2025, the city closed with 42 congresses and meetings and 201 corporate events, attracting nearly 17.000 participants. The city expects to close the year with 62 congresses and meetings, while around twenty more are already scheduled for 2026 and 2027, in addition to corporate events, which will increase throughout the year.

Councilor for Tourism, Ana Poquet, emphasized "the importance of supporting MICE tourism, which not only has a major economic impact on the city but also promotes quality tourism by generating knowledge exchange and synergies that, while not financially quantifiable, are very positive and enriching." At the same time, the councilor highlighted "the important work carried out by the Alicante Convention Bureau thanks to the involvement of the sector."

Another "positive sign," Poquet indicated, is the "increasing penetration of the international market in Alicante's MICE tourism." In this regard, 78 international corporate events and six conferences and meetings were held during the first half of the year.

Important appointments

Also noteworthy are the quality and importance of the conferences hosted in Alicante. Important events are planned for the second half of the year, such as the European Drosophila Research Conference, which will bring together 800 people at the ADDA from September 25th to 28th; the Spanish Liver Transplant Society Conference, with 250 professionals at the ADDA from October 22nd to 24th; the Alicante Congress, Historic Capital of Wine in the Mediterranean, with 200 attendees at the MARQ from October 29th to 31st; the World Congress on Social Marketing, with 400 attendees at the University of Alicante from November 5th to 7th; and the Endodontics Association Conference, from October 30th to November 1st, with 1.200 attendees at the ADDA, which will be the largest conference of the year.

In 2026, Alicante will host the Congress of the Royal Academy of the Spanish Mathematical Society in January, with an attendance of 500 people; the International Convention on Technical Architecture, with 500 people in May at the ADDA; and the Congress of the Spanish Society of Radiation Oncology, scheduled for June 2026, with another 500 people, also in the Provincial Auditorium. Meanwhile, the Transportation Engineering Congress will be held in 2027, among others.
